Unfortunately this event has had to be cancelled, because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic
On this visit to Buckfast Abbey, we shall have a conducted tour of Buckfast Abbey Gardens. At Buckfast there are spacious lawns and three specialist garden areas: a Lavender garden, a Physic garden, and a Sensory Garden. Everywhere there are specialist trees which give a magnificence and splendour to the grounds.
11 am The conducted tour will last about an hour and a half, and will cost £3 per person.
12.30 Lunch – those who wish to do so can have lunch or snacks in the Grange Restaurant, which commands spectacular views of the Abbey and the surrounding countryside.
After lunch, members are free to visit the Abbey. There are also three interesting shops nearby. The Monastic Produce Shop sells items (beers, wines, jams, honeys, etc.) made by monks and nuns in Europe and beyond. The Bookshop has a wide range of religious and other books, while The Gift Shop sells other items.

By road: Buckfast Abbey is half a mile from the A38, and mid-way between Exeter and Plymouth. There is ample free parking at the Abbey.
By bus: From Newton Abbot there is an 88 bus at 9.50 am, which gets to Buckfast at 10.22 am. There are hourly return buses. From Exeter bus station, take the X38 bus at 9.30 am towards Plymouth, and get off at Station Approach, Buckfastleigh, at 10.20 am. From there it is a half-mile walk to the Abbey at Buckfast. The return bus from Buckfastleigh to Exeter runs every two hours (1.40, 3.45 and 5.25).
