NOTE: We had originally planned to have a talk on biodiversity, but the speaker withdrew. At short notice we have organised an alternative talk.

Our Secretary, Peter Wingfield-Digby, will talk about a new book that he has published independently.  The book gives short descriptions of 63 memorials in Exeter Cathedral that have some overseas link. The memorials encompass a wide range of experience: soldiers and sailors, missionaries, explorers, colonial administrators, people employed by the East India Company and – almost inevitably – some connected with slave plantations in the Caribbean.

Peter spent most of his working life as an international statistical consultant, living and working in developing countries around the world. Since retiring, he has been a guide and steward in Exeter Cathedral for ten years.

The book is available from Bookbag, Exeter and some other independent bookshops.
