On this visit to Buckfast Abbey, we shall have a conducted tour of Buckfast Abbey Gardens. At Buckfast there are spacious lawns and three specialist garden areas: a Lavender garden, a Physic garden, and a Sensory Garden. Everywhere there are unusual trees which give a magnificence and splendour to the grounds.

12.00        Lunch – those who wish to do so can have lunch or snacks at the Grange Restaurant, but seating will probably be outside. The restaurant commands spectacular views of the Abbey and the surrounding countryside,

2.00 pm    The conducted tour will last about an hour and a half, and will cost £3 per person.

The Abbey and grounds are usually open from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm. Members are free to visit the Abbey, but it will be closed to visitors from 12 to 12.30 when a Mass is held.

There are also three interesting shops nearby which may be open (Covid-19 permitting). The Monastic Produce Shop sells items (beers, wines, jams, honeys, etc.) made by monks and nuns in Europe and beyond. The Bookshop has a wide range of religious and other books, while The Gift Shop sells other items.
